Focus on practicing skills in a pool or confined water site. The first step in developing mermaid skills. Through this course, you will systematically learn mermaid diving background, culture, skills, primary safety considerations, equipment and obtain a certificate.

Requirements and Notes:

1. Age 6 or older (youths under 18 must obtain parental/guardian consent).

2. Those aged 60 or older must provide valid diving medical certification to the instructor for verification.

3. All registrants must complete the PADI Diver Medical Participant Questionnaire and the PADI Mermaid Series Course Liability Waiver/Risk Assumption Agreement.

4. Mermaid equipment and tail are included, but a swimsuit must be provided by the participant.

5. It is recommended to purchase diving insurance for the day.

6. Must have a certain level of swimming ability: able to swim 25 meters continuously without aids and float comfortably on the water surface for at least 3 minutes.

Course Schedule:

Theory Session:

• Through PADI eLearning, students can independently study the theoretical knowledge required for mermaid diving, including: the cultural background of mermaid diving, key safety considerations, and knowledge of mermaid equipment.

Confined water environment:

• In a swimming pool, the instructor will guide and practice practical skills, including:

  • basic skills practice—preparing, wearing, removing, and maintaining mermaid equipment, as well as water entry and exit techniques;

  • mermaid kicks—practicing unique mermaid movements such as dolphin kicks;

  • safety and response skills—learning 2-minute floating, cramp relief, buddy system, and other safety and self-rescue skills.

• The instructor will conduct simple photography for the students.

Performance of Completion:

• Theory Exam

• Possess qualified basic mermaid skills

*Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded the PADI Basic Mermaid Certification
